American track and field athlete Kara Winger reflects on the importance of coaches throughout her career.

One year ago, Buenos Aires 2018 brought to life its vision to “bring sport to the people”. Close to a quarter of a million people lined the main avenue of the Argentine capital to celebrate the opening ceremony, and this was followed by one million spectators experiencing the four parks, which were packed with exciting sports competitions and cultural and sporting activities, and were spread out across the city.

As the countdown continues to the third edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), takes a look at the athlete role models who will be on hand to help, advise and support the young athletes in Lausanne.

USA Taekwondo athlete Anastasija Zolotic on overcoming fear, how she handles high expectations, and who her biggest supporters are.

Madelynn Gorman Shore of USA Taekwondo on how she got started with taekwondo, the most challenging parts of the sport, and what being in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics would mean to her.

“For all the kids, just set your goals and work toward them. There is really no shortcut,” Crouser says. “I get asked that all the time: ‘What are some tips and tricks?’ There isn’t one. The biggest secret to being successful is there is no secret. Whether that goal is in academics or athletics, write down those goals and work towards it.”
