How to Be a Good Football Kicker

Strike the bottom center of the ball with the inside of the top of the foot. Your foot should be at a 45-degree angle to the sideline when you make contact.

Kickers may spend most of the football game watching from the sidelines, but when time's running out and their team needs three points, then kicking a field goal becomes one of the most pressure-packed jobs in sports.

Master a consistent, repeatable preparation routine and kicking motion on the practice field so that everything comes naturally in game situations. Dedicate plenty of time to a variety of kicking drills to add distance, improve accuracy and score more points for your team.

Fundamentals

1. Wear kicking or soccer shoes that fit snugly. Many kickers wear a kicking shoe that is one-half size smaller than their normal shoe size.
