Years of funneling updates and information to one outside-party administrator are over for Toronto-area's Forest Hill Hockey Association

Dean Bender leveraged his marketing background to lead the push for the Forest Hill Hockey Association to move onto a more modern, functional platform.

BEFORE

Non-responsive layout that was cumbersome on mobile devices; single-administrator access only; no mobile app

AFTER

Responsive design optimized for mobile devices; ability to grant permissions to specific pages or areas of the site; mobile app

Who: Forest Hill Hockey Association

What: Youth hockey association with about 1,000 players based out of affluent Toronto neighborhood

Teams: 37 in house league; 13 in Greater Toronto Hockey League

When: Site launched in early October, 2017

Goal: Launch new website on platform that is current, functional, user friendly and allows for multiple administrators to make immediate updates. Freshen logo and create brand consistency.

Making it happen: Dean Bender leveraged his marketing background to lead the push for the association to move onto a more modern, functional platform. "The new site allows us to update things immediately versus having to wait," Bender said. "It puts the power in the hands of the board and the people." In the end, usability was the ultimate goal, Bender said. "That was the main thing," he said. "How do we get a good looking site that we can use?"

First impressions were great. Everybody loved it. There is a holistic nature to our hockey brand now.
