Soccer webmasters steal show in Seattle

Lee Hitchen of Nowland Premier Soccer Academy and Beth Jung of Mt. Rainier Futbol Club talk about tactics that organizations can use to set themselves apart.

SportsEngine User Group Seattle was held on July 25 in neighboring Bellevue, Washington.

Former SportsEngine Webmasters of the Week Lee Hitchen of Nowland Premier Soccer Academy and Beth Jung of Mt. Rainier Futbol Club were the featured speakers as a group of about 35 youth sports webmasters, coaches, directors and registrars attended the SportsEngine Seattle User Group event on July 25 in Bellevue, Washington.

Hitchen, vice president-administration for Nowland Premier Soccer Academy, spoke about the importance of an organization sharing its mission statement and values as a way to differentiate itself from its competitors. He also talked about ways to prepare and promote players for higher levels, and how those methods, such as Nowland Premier’s College Preparatory Program, are detailed in the Player Pathway section on the club’s website.

Jung, director of marketing and webmaster for the Mt. Rainier Futbol Club, explained how a series of professional quality video profiles of the club’s athletes are produced and posted. She also talked about how she gathered information and designed the club’s Coaches and Fields pages.

The event, held at El Gaucho Bellevue, also included representatives from Diamond Sports Training Center, Eclipse Soccer Club, Emerald City Softball Association, FC Bellevue, Ingraham Athletics Booster Club, Kirkland Little League, Mukilteo Lacrosse Club, Redmond High School Dance Team Boosters, Totem Hoop Club, Emerald City FC and Mercer Island Basketball, among other organizations.

SportsEngine User Group Seattle was hosted by SportsEngine community manager Loren Nelson, who talked about the Help CenterIdeas PortalCommunity ForumMedia Center and other resources available to help use and maximize SportsEngine’s software.

Product marketing manager Rob Bedeaux gave updates on new products such as PowerPay and premier level responsive Sitebuilder templates. He also talked about the new site and how organizations can get their information listed there.
