Halaz, Raye own the day in St. Louis

Featured webmasters at user group event share tips on everything from fundraising to banner and background design

SportsEngine held its St. Louis area user group event on July 13.

Former SportsEngine Webmasters of the Week Andy Halaz of High Performance – STL Volleyball and Christine Raye of Kirkwood Pioneer hockey were the featured speakers as a group of about 40 youth sports webmasters, coaches, directors and registrars attended the SportsEngine User Group event on July 13 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Halaz, High Performance – STL Volleyball’s public relations director, shared how he uses templates to set up his player pages, how he creates and sends the club’s monthly newsletter, how he uses the club’s website to showcase his players for college recruiters and how he took advantage of a unique fundraising opportunity.

Raye, communications director and webmaster for the Kirkwood Pioneer boys’ high school hockey site, shared tips for how she keeps alumni connected to the program and how she designed and loaded the site’s banner and background.

The event, held at Twisted Tree Steakhouse, also included representatives from Gateway Region Volleyball, Kirkwood United Soccer Club, Mid Missouri Tigers, Mid States Club Hockey Association, Mid States High School Hockey, Missouri Volleyball Academy, Saint Louis Force Force Baseball Academy, St. Louis Catholic Youth Council Volleyball Club, St. Louis Ramblers Rugby Club, St. Louis University Hockey and Spearhead Lacrosse, among other organizations.

Also in attendance was former Webmaster of the Week Shelly Marino of the Edwardsville Wrestling Club.

SportsEngine User Group St. Louis was hosted by SportsEngine community manager Loren Nelson, who talked about the Help Center, Ideas Portal, Community Forum, Media Center and other resources available to help use and maximize SportsEngine’s software.

Product marketing manager Jim Dahline gave updates on new products such as PowerPay and premier level responsive Sitebuilder templates. He also provided a brief overview on how to secure sponsors and track payments using SportsEngine’s tools.
