Discussion led by top central Florida webmasters ranges from branding to background checks

SportsEngine's Jim Dahline, center, leads a discussion during the May 10 SportsEngine User Group event in Longwood, Florida.

Shane Bartholomew of the Port Orange Lady Panthers and Robert Soler of Hotshots Athletics were the featured speakers as a group of about 40 youth sports webmasters, coaches, directors, registrars and board members attended the SportsEngine User Group event on May 10 in Orlando, Florida.

Bartholomew serves as the co-founder and director of player/organizational development for the Panthers, a fastpitch softball organization on Florida’s Atlantic Coast. He talked about the importance of creating a positive first impression through an attractive website, the presentation of information in his About Us section and the instances when and he uses PowerPay instead of Registration to collect payments.

Soler, the founder and president of Hotshots Athletics, shared the highlights of his Sponsorship program and the section devoted to it on the Hotshots’ website. He also talked about the importance he places on background screening. Soler talked about the Little Rookies video that shows Hotshots pre-Kindergarteners dribbling, shooting, passing and playing games at the Hotshots Athletics Sports Complex.

The event, held at Enzo’s on the Lake in Longwood, Florida, also included representatives from The X LeVeL, EYSF Panthers, Longwood Babe Ruth, Apopka Raptors, Central Florida Pride, Legacy Volleyball Club (Florida), Hoop Dreams Elite, Orlando Youth Hockey Association, CHB (Community, Home, Basketball) and Top Select Volleyball Academy, among other organizations.
