Voss, Shepherd rock Detroit User Group event

Webmasters for Michigan Elite Volleyball and Nationals Soccer offer insight on how to maximize SportsEngine tools

The SportsEngine User Group event in Livonia, Michigan, on May 4 drew about 40 attendees.

Jenilee Voss of Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy and Steve Shepherd of Nationals Soccer were the featured speakers as a group of about 40 youth sports webmasters, coaches, directors, registrars and board members attended the SportsEngine User Group event on May 4 in Livonia, Michigan.

Voss, who serves as webmaster and travel manager (among other duties), talked about her work in overseeing Michigan Elite’s migration to a mobile responsive website template. She talked about how she uses Call to Action page elements, Instagram Snapwidget and videos to promote the club on its homepage.

She also shared how she created the club’s recruiting section, organizing content through the use of links and the table and tab elements.  

Shepherd, the customer information and technology director (aka webmaster) for National’s Soccer, talked about how he creates team page templates, then provides tutorials for coaches and managers so they can add content to those pages. He also talked about when and how the uses PowerPay for billing instead of Registration.

The event, held at Mitchell’s Fish Market, also included representatives from 1NationalElite, Avengers Mentoring Youth Organization, Bloomfield Hills School District, Blue Line Nation, Dexter Soccer Club, Howell Area Junior Football and Cheer, Kensington Valley Baseball & Softball Association, Michigan Amateur Hockey Association’s District 2 and District 4, Midwest United Football Club, Redford Township Hockey Association, Riverview Junior Football Association and Rochester Hockey Club, among other organizations.

SE User Group Detroit was hosted by SportsEngine community manager Loren Nelson, who talked about the Help Center, Ideas Portal, Community Forum and other resources available to help use and maximize SportsEngine’s software. Product marketing manager Jim Dahline gave updates on new products such as PowerPay and premier level responsive Sitebuilder templates and gave a brief overview on how to use the messaging tools in Team Center.
