Vista Girls Softball webmaster David Muro shows his innovative use of Sport Nign platform
David Muro of Vista Girls Softball and Rachel Crader of the San Diego Union-Tribune were the featured speakers among the more than 40 youth sports webmasters, coaches, registrars, schedulers, treasurers and board members who attended the Sport Ngin User Group event on Feb. 18 in Escondido, California.
Muro’s work as webmaster previously was featured on the Sport Ngin Community site in an article ranking the top five softball websites on the platform. Crader is the online sports editor for the Union-Tribune, which has used the Sport Ngin platform to power the scores, schedules and statistics portion of its high school sports coverage (hs.utpreps.com) since 2012.
Muro talked about how, after a year-over-year cost analysis, he calculated he saved his organization $1,000 by switching to the Sport Ngin platform. He also showed how he rostered players live during the Vista Softball’s player draft. He also talked about the unique Snack Bar and Our Heritage pages he created on the site.
Crader showed how season scoring leaders, schedules and rankings are displayed for multiple sports using Sport Ngin’s League management tools. She also talked about how team pages from the U-T Preps site can be mirrored to individual team or high school sites, eliminating the need for duplicate entry of rosters, schedules, scores and statistics.
The event, held at Stone Brewing World Bisto & Gardens, also included former Webmaster of the Week Dorothy Hanling of the Coronado Aquatics Club. Representatives from Bonita Vista High School Football, Dana Point Youth Baseball, Encinitas Lacross, Poway Titans Baseball, Preps 365, San Diego Crush Baseball, San Diego Saints Hockey, UC Del Sol Softball – among other organizations – also were in attendance.
The event was hosted by Sport Ngin community manager Loren Nelson and included regional manager Ryan Hanson, sales representative Ryan McIntosh, account manager Adam Nelson, product marketing manager Rob Bedeaux and vice president, soccer John Weinerth.
Loren Nelson gave a brief overview of Sport Ngin and talked about some of the features and resources available on the Sport Ngin Community website. Hanson talked about Sport Ngin’s five main areas of focus (risk management, communications, competition, promotion and financial management) in the coming year. Bedeaux gave a presentation on some of Sport Ngin’s newest and most popular products, including Registration, team messaging and mobile responsive Sitebuilder templates. Adam Nelson gave an overview of the onboarding process, from the help available through support to the role of Sport Ngin’s account managers.
