Percentage of smartphone and tablet viewers has surpassed those who surf the web with PCs

First off, if you don’t have a mobile app for your organization, get one. 

For the first time, mobile app usage surpassed web surfing in February 2014. Take a second to look up from your smartphone. You’ll most likely see everyone else staring at an app. 

On February 28, 2014, CNN Money reported that 47 percent of U.S. internet traffic was via an app on a smartphone or tablet device.


Mobile apps for sports teams offer parents, athletes, and fans instant access to game locations, game times, live scores, standings, player stats, and even social networking. What’s more, parents and athletes with your mobile app consume less of your organization’s time with phone calls and emails looking for updates throughout the season.

Since every parent, athlete, coach and volunteer needs to register each season, this is a central location to promote app downloads. Make sure to explain the benefits of having your mobile app on their phone, including getting push notifications when games are rescheduled or practice times have changed. Also, make sure to promote both the iOS (Apple) and Android versions of your app.
