Webmaster Jodie Cox leverages sales background, passion for sport to boost revenue
Director of Sales
Cox, a Weber State University graduate, has deep experience in marketing, advertising, sales and business development. While sharpening and expanding all of those skills, she is raising a family that, in her words, “lives, eats and breathes wrestling.” So who better to appoint as the new Director of Sales for USA Wrestling Utah, an organization that consists of 75 sanctioned youth clubs and about 4,500 active members. Cox took the position that includes managing portions of the organization’s website in late August. She had worked in commercial sales for Auto Trader Publishing before becoming a co-founder of Zoom Autos Inc., a Utah-based auto magazine. Her three children -- Tanner, Hailey and Cooper -- all are avid wrestlers. Tanner, a junior, and Hailey, a freshman, both wrestle for Maple Mountain High School. Hailey is vying to become the first girl to wrestle for the school’s varsity squad.
Cox’s work in securing advertising and sponsorships can be seen throughout the site, most notably in the Jodie’s List graphic in the upper right corner of the home page. The Jodie’s List page showcases 10 sponsors and includes an “I Made a Purchase” button so Cox and the businesses can better track the sales generated by the site. Cox also implemented the USA Wrestling Utah online auction that puts donated merchandise from sponsors up for bidding. Another Cox-implemented feature is the Advertising Packages page that lists in detail what advertisers get in return for their varying levels of investment.
Cox has helped boost the site’s multimedia offerings by shooting video at events and securing video from third-party providers. She also has been active on the organization’s social media accounts. She hopes to build out a girls’ section on the site that would provide information on camps and practices specific to the growing number of girls showing interest in or joining USA Wrestling Utah.
