Too many young people have learned to whine, complain, throw tantrums, and expect to have their way! This is learned behavior, folks!
To the editor:
Athletic events are learning experiences for student-athletes. They are learning many valuable life skills such as hard work, dedication, perseverance and sportsmanship to name a few.
In the last few weeks, I have had the pleasure of witnessing some amazing high school athletes at events such as the IHSAA wrestling state finals as well as dozens of high school basketball games. Too many times however, the event is soured by fans who lack good sportsmanship. I cannot solve the problem but I hope at least one person reading this says to themself “I can do better, I can set a positive example.”
