Webmaster Stephanie Windon, a business teacher, ensures content makes the grade at Warner Robins

Webmaster of the Week: Sept. 25-Oct. 1

Name:

Stephanie Windon

Site:

Warner Robins Football

Position:

Webmaster

Use of platform:

Registration, Sitebuilder

Background:

Windon grew up in a football family (her father has been a coach for more than 30 years), and she traveled around the country as a kid, her family relocating each time her dad got a new job. At one point Windon vowed she would never marry a football coach, and then she married – you guessed it – a football coach (her husband, David, now works as director of scouting for National Preps, a college scouting service). “I love football just as much as anyone else,” says Windon, who received her bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from North Georgia College and State University and master’s degree in education from Thomas University. She’s a decorated business and computer science teacher at Warner Robins High School, having been named Teacher of the Year in 2015 by the Georgia Business Education Association and receiving Teacher of the Year honors again in 2016 from the Georgia Association of Career and Technical Education.

What she does:

Windon’s enduring passion for football is readily apparent, especially on game days. She attends all the Warner Robins football games, and can be seen constantly punching information into her phone as she provides scoring updates through the mobile app and on social media. Windon works with her students to create fresh content for the site, most notably graphics and videos that preview upcoming games. “They really enjoy seeing their work going up on the website,” Windon said, adding that all student work undergoes an intense vetting process that is overseen by herself and another teacher and also includes the Warner Robins principal and the school’s head football coach. She updated a Venue template with photos and Google map codes and then deployed the template on the Warner Robins High School football Our Facilities page. Windon says the school’s coaches regularly direct parents and fans to the page, as it can be confusing to know which Demons team plays where (the ninth-graders and junior varsity don’t play at the school’s main stadium). The school’s practice field is also mapped out on the page.

Making her mark:

Windon worked with SportsEngine to set up a Sponsorship Packages Registration that allows sponsors to choose from eight sponsorship packages ranging in price from $600 to $5,000.

Fun fact:

Warner Robins football has a storied tradition, as the school has won four state championships and two mythical national championships (in 1976 and 1981). It should be noted that the Demons are undefeated through their first six games this season.
