Bryan Barnes parlays design background, his kids' athletic interests into abundance of web work
Barnes grew up in Olathe, Kansas, where he attended Olathe South High School. He earned a graphic design degree from the University of Kansas in 1993. Barnes met his wife, Lori, in college and they lived in St. Louis for five years before relocating to her native Minnesota. The Barnes family includes son Luke, a 6-foot-4 freshman at Minneapolis Roosevelt who saw varsity playing time last year as an eighth-grader, and sixth-grade twins Charlie (a baseball player) and Ellie (basketball). Barnes is the founder and creative director of Minneapolis-based bbb design inc. His design background and kids’ interest in sports made him a natural to sign on as the webmaster for the multiple Minneapolis youth sports organizations.
Newcomers to the Lakers or Minneapolis Youth Baseball Association can learn more about the organizations through Parent’s Primer pages on both sites. Those pages share information such as the cost to participate, the length of the season and what apparel is required. Barnes pushed for both the Lakers and MYBA sites to transition to Sport Ngin’s new mobile responsive themes. “Our analytics show half our people are coming from mobile devices, so we needed to make the switch,” Barnes said. Barnes created the banner and background design on the Minnesota Chill site.
Barnes uses the mirror page element to showcase major sponsor Twin Cities Orthopedics at the top of every page on both the Lakers and MYBA sites.
