Webmaster of the Week: March 23-29

Name: Sean Morris

Site: BostonLax

Position: Founder/owner/webmaster

Background: Morris was a high school football and lacrosse phenom in Massachusetts while attending Marshfield High School. He went on to lacrosse stardom at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he twice was named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy that goes to the nation’s top Division I collegiate player. He played professionally for multiple teams in the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse, including the Boston Blazers (NLL) and Boston Cannons (MLL). He played for the U.S. national indoor team before retiring in 2013.

What he does: Morris has stamped his highly recognizable name with seemingly all things lacrosse in the New England area. He helped launch BostonLax.net three years ago, and the site, which covers high school lacrosse in all of Massachusetts, is just part of his portfolio. Laxachusetts Minutemen, girls LaxachusettsSean Morris Academy and Legacy Lacrosse all are part of Morris’ growing empire. He has helped build relationships with BostonLax.net sponsors such as Muscle Milk, Nike and STX. Those sponsors help pay for an editorial staff that Morris oversees. “This is not something that is a money maker for us,” Morris said. “It is just part of the many lacrosse things we do.” BostonLax.net covers all 239 boys’ lacrosse teams in Massachusetts, and the site includes statewide schedules, scores and statistics.

Making his mark: The site has a good mix of highlight videos and analysis, with Morris serving as the host for state tournament previews.
