Kramer, the head wrestling coach at Jayhawk-Linn High School in Mound City, Kansas, signed on as webmaster for the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association about seven years ago. He joined forces with Vander Linden, the Technology Director for the Burlington School District and head wrestling coach at Burlington High School, to build a Joomla-powered site that required advanced HTML skills. Naasz, who teaches business/computers at Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Kansas, and also serves as the school’s head wrestling coach, joined forces with Kramer and Vander Linden last summer when the coaches’ association commissioned the trio to choose a new platform for the KWCA site. Duties are split with Kramer focusing on posting results, historical content and the immensely popular state rankings; Naasz handles much of the design work and Vander Linden has been focusing on registration projects.
Kramer, Naasz and Vander Linden spent about eight hours planning the site’s design and content architecture in August. After finalizing their plan on a giant white board, they quickly assigned tasks and went to work. Vander Linden set up the registration for the KWCA’s annual clinic, Kramer built team pages for every program in the state and Naasz created fresh content and integrated the association’s social media channels.
Naasz is building out a Live Events page that he hopes will serve as a hub or directory for all matches statewide that are being streamed online. Kansas wrestling historians have to love the State Records page that lists season and career records in multiple categories.
